In September 2008, PM Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari issued a joint statement at the UN General Assembly on improving relations; two months later, on 26 November 2008, Pakistan sent 10 terrorists who carried out the 26/11 Mumbai attack in which more than 170 people were killed.
