In Lakhimpur Kheri, UP, police claimed in court that gold jewellery stored in the police malkhana dissolved in rainwater and the rest was carried off by monkeys; the court said the police are lying and it is a case of criminal breach of trust, ordering the police administration to compensate.

“पुलिस ने कोर्ट में दावा किया कि मालखाने में जो सोना जमा था उसके कुछ गहने बारिश के पानी में गल गए और जो बचे उन्हें बंदर उठाकर ले गए। कोर्ट ने कहा कि पुलिस झूठ बोल रही है।”
