Under the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan received the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab and India the Ravi, Beas and Sutlej — about 80% of the six rivers' water went to Pakistan and 20% to India — and India has used only about 20% of even its permitted share.
