An audit of Karnataka's Griha Lakshmi scheme found that Rs 128 crore from the state treasury was transferred to accounts of people who are dead, with money flowing for the past five months into accounts of nearly 1,95,000 deceased women, prompting D.K. Shivakumar to order a review of the scheme.

“सिद्ध रमैया ने जो गृह लक्ष्मी योजना शुरू की थी उस स्कीम में सरकारी खजाने से 128 करोड़ ऐसे लोगों के खातों में ट्रांसफर कर दिए गए जो इस दुनिया में है ही नहीं... पिछले 5 महीने से 1995000 ऐसी महिलाओं के खातों में पैसा ट्रांसफर हो रहा है जिनकी मौत हो चुकी है।”
