The matter first surfaced on 7 June when former Samajwadi Party minister Pawan Pandey alleged theft from the Ram Mandir donation boxes; the initial allegation was Rs 5-7 crore, but the figure circulating on social media has since swelled to an unverified Rs 200 crore.
