After the Zojila tunnel opens, travel from Ganderbal to Kargil will drop from 3 hours to just 20 minutes, and the Baltal-to-Meenamarg distance will shrink from 40 km to 14 km; it will also let the army move troops and materiel faster to the China and Pakistan borders.

“अभी कश्मीर के गांधेर बल से लद्दाख के कारगिल जाने में 3 घंटे लगते हैं। लेकिन इस टनल के बनने के बाद सिर्फ 20 मिनट का समय लगेगा और कश्मीर के बालटाल से लद्दाख के मीनामार्ग की दूरी 40 कि.मी. से घटकर अब 14 कि.मी. की रह जाएगी।”
