Rebel TMC MPs wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla claiming 20 of the party's 28 MPs are ready to support the NDA; the letter dated May 18 bears the signatures of 19 TMC MPs — exactly meeting the two-thirds anti-defection threshold of 19 — and earlier 60 of 80 TMC MLAs were recognized as a separate bloc in the Bengal assembly.
